NVOCC – Another milestone in Real Logistics history

What is NVOCC?
NVOCC (Non-Vessel-Operating Common Carrier) is a sea carrier that issues its own house bill of lading or equivalent document. It does not have its own fleet, but rents cargo space from typical shipowners, using it to transport consolidated or full container shipments.
The regulator of the NVOCC’s activities is The United States Federal Maritime Commission (FMC), which sets the level of the rates charged. FMC is an independent federal agency based in Washington D.C., it is responsible for regulating the USA international ocean transportation system for the benefit of USA exporters, importers, and the USA consumer.

What is the business model?
Working with an NVOCC is the best strategy since an NVOCC is directly responsible for a cargo, it offers flexible contracts and rates along with more reliable services. An NVOCC combines the benefits of a freight forwarder and a carrier, so a cargo will get from its origin to the destination point without the interruptions caused by working with an additional carrier.
More than 6000 companies across the globe have NVOCC registration, which allows them to extend their services and to reach more customers, finding solutions and accomplishing goals. Despite the fact that there are such a large number of countries which have NVOCC registration, there are only 7 Polish companies on that list and we are very proud to be among them, proving that Poland is a perspective country with high logistics potential.
