Reuters has reported that Kuehne+Nagel expects to cut up to 25% of its workers due to the coronavirus impact on supply chains. Klaus-Michael Kuehne said in an interview with Die Welt that warehouse workers would be most affected. In terms of locations there will be more jobs lost in the US, because it does not have the short-time working systems that many European countries have. Kuehne’s statements appear to contradict those made by bosses during the first quarter announcement, when they said no plans to make jobs cuts were planned, because they wanted to be ready for any re-bound. Klaus-Michael Kuehne, however had said during his interview, that he considered the trend of globalization was slowing with regionalization on the rise.
