Irish exports

Irish exports will have their first direct deep sea transatlantic service to the US in many years. Independent Container Line ICL with their headquarters based in Richmond, Virginia, US have announced plans to include the Port of Cork on its North Europe-US east coast service next month. Currently ICL’s weekly transatlantic TAC1 service operates four vessels of approximately 2,400 TEU capacity with a port rotation of Philadelphia, Wilmington, Antwerp and Southampton. Stopping at Cork will be inserted as the final call from North Europe. The first vessel to Ireland will be the 3000 TEU Independent Vision, which is now on route from Wilmington to Antwerp and is scheduled to arrive at Cork on June 6th.
