The European Union and US officials are moving rapidly to replace the head of the World Trade Organization, after the Director-General, Brazilian Roberto Azevedo unexpectedly announced he would step down on 31st August. The EU Trade Commissioner Phil Hogan said it was essential to quickly chart a new path ahead at this critical time for trade.
